INSTALLATION

How do I determine if a particular site is ideal for ADRail™?

To obtain the highest visibility for a campaign, ADRail™ should be installed in high traffic areas such as transit systems, shopping malls, department stores, airports, sports stadiums, hotels and convention centres.

How long does it take for me to receive my ADRail™ film and have it installed?

The order process for ADRail™ takes about two weeks from receipt and approval of the artwork design to installation.

How long and how many technicians does it take to install ADRail™?

EHC's patented ADRail™ installation process ensures a smooth, flawless surface and requires 1 hour and 1 technician. Removal is quick and easy with no messy clean up.

Would the escalator or moving walk need to be disassembled to install ADRail™?

No. ADRail™ is applied by EHC, or an EHC trained technician using a patented applicator. The film can be applied within one handrail rotation and does not require the equipment to be disassembled.

Can ADRail™ be applied to a rubber (SBR) handrail?

Yes. ADRail™ can be applied to all variations of handrails providing that the handrails are in optimum operating conditions. For long-term branding, we suggest ADRail™ be installed on EHC's NT handrails, a patented thermoplastic urethane handrail ideal for ADRail™ this type of handrail can be purchased by your local escalator maintenance company.

Will ADRail™ damage my handrail?

No. ADRail™ is applied to the handrails with a pressure sensitive adhesive. It is not permanent and will not damage the handrail. EHC, or a technician trained by EHC can easily remove ADRail™.

SAFETY

How safe is ADRail™?

ADRail™ has TüV certification that the product is safe and will not hinder the operation of escalators or moving walks. In fact, ADRail™ has been found to enhance safety by indicating motion; its high gloss finish encourages passengers to hold the handrail and focus on the handrail. Safety Messages can also be applied to ADRail.

What is TüV certification?

TüV is a German company which establishes safety standards for various equipment and operations and assesses the site based on these standards. The equipment/site is assessed using these specific guidelines and would receive “TüV Certification” if the equipment/site meets the fundamental safety aspects to be considered. TüV certification is respected globally.

Does ADRail™ pass safety code regulations?

Each country (and in some cases, each airport or transit system) has specific requirements.

PROPERTIES

How durable is ADRail™?

ADRail™ has undergone extensive field testing under varying atmospheric conditions and hazards. The film is a proprietary formulation, specifically developed to withstand the forces applied to it from the escalator and passengers, as well as specific environmental conditions.

Will the ink fade or transfer to hands/clothing?

No. This is impossible due to the proprietary manufacturing technique EHC uses to print and manufacture the film. ADRail has been thoroughly tested in numerous situations and the ink does not fade.

Is ADRail™ permanent?

No. ADRail™ is temporary, allowing site owners to maximize revenue potential by frequently changing ads for national campaigns or local promotions.

How long does ADRail™ last?

ADRail™ film is highly durable. Film life will depend on your site conditions – one of our distributors can assist you with site suitability.

What about vandalism?

ADRail™ has been specially developed to reduce vandalism. Due to the type of adhesive used to bond the film to the handrail, ADRail™ is quite difficult to peel for an untrained vandal. Cuts can easily be repaired on the spot using replacement film. Graffiti type vandalism can be easily cleaned with a locally available, environmentally safe, citrus based cleaner/degreaser.

How do I keep the ad looking its best for the duration of the campaign?

ADRail™ requires minimum maintenance due to its smooth, glossy finish. Stains from the escalator drive mechanism or passenger use clean up easily using a locally available, environmentally safe, citrus based cleaner/degreaser.

Has ADRail™ been approved by escalator manufacturers?

EHC supplies handrails and has been approved by most of the major escalator manufacturers around the world. Regarding ADRail™, it is not possible to get a global approval as each site is specific. In the majority of cases, the site owner will conduct a pilot installation and then grant approval, sometimes in conjunction with the escalator manufacturer, or the maintenance company that is responsible for the site. EHC works very closely with our distributors and site owners to obtain all necessary approvals.
